Im seriously suspecting that my phone has broken 10 pairs of earbuds (3.5mm jack connector type) in this year alone. Here's why:

Whenever I use my earbuds with any other device they work fine, its only after I start regularly using them with my phone that the right earbud goes silent, and a few days later, the left earbud. Then they never work again.

For example, I had a pair of earbuds I only used with my laptop, and they were fine for 4 years. When I started using them regulary with my phone, within a month, they were broken.

Another Observation:

Occasionally, when I have the earbuds plugged into my phone (via 3.5mm jack), and in my ear, Ill feel a shocking sensation in my ear, that causes a bit of pain. If you've ever felt a static shot when touching metal after rubbing wool over plastic you've felt the sensation. My earbuds make a crackling noise, and I get shocked in my ears.

Suggestions?:

Is it possible for head phone jacks in phones to send too much voltage to devices? Is that what causes the circuitry in the earbuds to die? If not, what else could be the issue?

I don't know if it's possible or not but I imagine that if this is happening you might want to invest in a pair of bluetooth earbuds. You have a pretty solid amount of data so I would say the phone is the problem at the least

The part of the earbuds shocking you has personally happened to me before, where the main earbud thing that goes in your ears came loose. Anyways, what phone do you have and what types of earbuds are you using?

I misread titles/posts way too often--correct me if I don't.

Either get a pair of bluetooth headset or change your phone. It looks like your 3.5mm jack got problem since you can feel the electronic shock.

If phone still under warranty, bring over for warranty check.
