Intel drivers not working

Ey

I just built a pc for a friend consisting of:

MSI B250m Mortar

core i5 7400

Corsair CX550m

Corsair LPX ddr4 8gb

MSI Gtx 960 4GB 

KIngston UV400

Windows 10 64bit

The components were bought since he wanted intel stuff, but wasnt interested in paying the close to $200 premium we have to pay up here for Coffee lake.

The problem is that I can't install the Intel l219-V driver for the LAN, since it gives me te error message "No intel adapters are present on this computer."

I'm sure they're the right drivers, and I've found a lot of people who've suffered from the same problem, but none of their solutions work for me.

Help?

If it helps, the BIOS says something about the Link Status being disconnected for the adapter, not sure if that means it doesnt detect it or what?
