Hello all! New member, came for some advise, I regularly watch LTT on the youtubes. I think I am finally comfortable enough with the thought of building compared to ten years ago when I first looked at it.

Finally moving away from laptops to get back to a desktop. I have a parts list ( https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KFr9bj ) and would really like to keep the case, or something with roughly the same dimensions, my desk is small and with my kiddos running around all the time I need to keep it up there and compact to save a little room.

My budget is 600, and I’ll need a windows key which I think I’ll obtain from Paul’s Hardware’s video about cheap keys, and that cost doesn’t figure into the build.

Wife wants the pc to be able to play sims 4 and expansions, I want Civilations 5 at least, I plan on trying to upgrade CPU and GPU next year.

Please take a look look and let me know if there are better options for budget.

Thanks!

-Mount

edit: updated part list to correct case with PSU.

Oh no! Color me embarrassed, thanks for pointing that out!!

I’ll have to squeak one in. I can go above 600, it cuts into my game budget, but clearly I’ll need one. Any recommendations, besides jumping to that version of the case? Which is also fine if necessary.

I don't know how good the Integra M that comes with the Node 202 is. I wasn't able to find anything about it.

The SF450 for $90 is a good SFX PSU, which is fine for upgrades. Shouldn't have issues running a 1080 + 1700.

:)

The fractal 450W has decent reviews, I’m going to probably grab the case at the higher price point, I didn’t realize I grabbed the wrong one.

The PSU that comes with it is apparently crap. Decent SFX PSUs are expensive.

Darn. Is it something that needs to be fixed before I get the parts, or can it wait a year. Don’t want anything getting hurt because of it.

I would get it now, honestly. That's some pretty expensive hardware to run on a shit PSU. Have you already bought the case that comes with one?

I think you should go for the EVGA 450 B1, and the NZXT S340. You will get it cheaper and you will have a lot more space to build and it will look pretty clean :) . For the rest of your build it looks ok :D .

The B1 is mediocre at best. The Corsair CX/M is available for less, and is better. The S340 is a completely different size from the Node 202, and OP prefers an SFF build.

:)

Case looks good, but I have to do more research on cases. The build keeps going up in price, with the node202, and if I want money left over for games a case swap is a good idea.

Thanks for the input.

I’ll take a look at the PSU. If you have any suggestions for a cheaper SFF case let me know!

The coolermaster v series is rated gold, is fully modular, and isn't much more than the CX PSU. I picked up a 550w for only 55 bucks yesterday.
