Posted November 7, 2017 Hi everyone, I recently built a Ryzen 1700x system. Currently I am running into an issue where I am using a Corsair H100i V2 for cooling but idle temps across all software programs like Ryzen Master, NZXT Cam Software among others are reporting the exact same temperatures of 55-60 degrees Celsius on idle. It was my understanding that Ryzen had a 20 degree offset but I am not seeing this to be true in my case. Starting up a game such as Assassins Creed Origins causes temps to pop up to 75 degrees. I am planning to clean the thermal past off my cpu and my H100i V2 and reseat my cooler to see if that is the issue but based on what i have found my temps seem higher. I thought posting here might allow me to gain a little more insight into possible solutions. I should note that I have installed the most recent bios and everything is stock on my pc. Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Posted November 7, 2017 Author I have the ROG Strix X370 Gaming F Motherboard. I cleared my CMOS last night. I will try to reseat the cooler tonight to see if there are any changes. No changes in temps. I am hoping its as easy as reseating the CPU cooler.

Something is wrong with the way the cooler is seated then. I would make sure you clean off all the thermal paste and reapply a nice pea sized amount. Posted November 7, 2017 What CPU mounting is the cooler using? I recently switched from a 2i2 to my first AIO and I noticed if i didn't screw the cooler down nice and snug it wouldn't cool properly. Yea I will do that tonight when I get home and test. hopefully i can resolve it because until i can figure this out I cant begin to do any type of overclocking. Posted November 7, 2017 It's probably a bad seat the stiff tubes on the corsair coolers can make mounting it perfectly difficult. You should also ready my signature to make sure that software conflicts are not the issue. What are the water temps on the h100i after extended stress tests? If mounted and working correctly the water temp should be within 25C or so of the CPU temp once it as stabilized (10+min of stress testing). If the CPU is at like 75+C and the water is still at like 35C then you have a bad mount and the heat is not transferring effectively to the block. Possible fix here: Spoiler Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link? Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.) Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly. -For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked. -For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components. -For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors. That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it. Posted November 7, 2017 Author I managed to figure it out. I took off the CPU cooler and the thermal paste was on pretty thick. Its possibly I over estimated how much of the Noctua NT- H1 Thermal paste I needed. I cleaned it all off, used some rubbing alcohol to clean off the cpu and the water block and I am now seeing around 36 - 40 degrees Celsius idle. This was roughly were I expected it to be with a H100i V2. Thanks everyone for their input.
