I have been experiencing an annoying crackling or popping sound when I play music. It occurs sometimes with the beat of some of the instruments in music. I use the Equalizer APO software in order to get good sound from my computer but even disabling that didn't fix my problem. I tried all of my audio outputs on the front and even on the back where the I/O ports are. I also tried multiple pairs of headphones, multiple pairs of earbuds, and even my computer speakers and this crackling happens with all of them. This just started happening about a week ago. I didn't download any new software or install any new drivers except an Nvidia GeForce Game Ready driver which I had problems with in the past. This problem occurs when I play sound or music from any program. I have Realtek audio installed on my computer. I have tried reinstalling GeForce Game Ready drivers which I thought may have caused the problem. I yelled out in joy when it was gone, but I was back to my depressed state when I restarted my computer and it came back. I tried this with different Realtek versions and the same sequence of events happened. I am running Windows 10 Creators Update. Thanks, T.

Here's something interesting: I recorded my computer's audio output in Audacity using "Realtek 2nd output" which I have my headphones plugged in and there is almost no popping/crackling. It happened only one time in the entire song I was recording when before it would be out of control in the amount of popping going on. Crazy. I stopped recording and it started back up.

Try a fresh video driver install. I am having popping issues as well (though a bit differently than you). Some people have suggested that this may help!
