So here it is a minecraft post. I also play black ops 3 and GTA v now the issue I'm having Is I can run GTA at almost max settings and black ops 3 around mid settings, but that all changes with Minecraft?

I play with mods so I understand some performance hindrance.  I'm running a a10-7870k overclock to 4.5 ghz and the integrated graphics overclocked to 940mhz. Now that's all fine and dandy in fact I could probably push it farther. But why does it do well in those games?

I'm not new to pc parts and performance I just don't understand why some applications do better than others, i want to build I new rig when I have the cash, but do I "REALLY" need a ryzen 7 to play minecraft with decent fps...I hope not

A list of 89 or so atm, I have gone as far as 120 or more anything more is completely unplayable

Is it a specific modpack? Mods add up quickly and eat system memory. Certain mods that have pipes or see through chest have been know to treat every object inside as an entity and that leads to huge performance hits and sometimes power cables in a loop will create memory leaks. Try to see if anything in your world has a huge number of entities through the debug (F3). A pipe network with 15,000 entities can bring even insane systems to their knees.

Even if I start a new world my max fps is around 30 with optifine. I'm working on a custom modpack of my own actually.

Tbh a i5 6600k would run minecraft better than a ryzen 1700 because it only uses one core so the more powerful the core the better the performance

It only uses one core for game play but especially if the game is locally hosted it will utilize other cores for services and mods. Certain modpacks may actually run best on a 1700 based on what mods need.

That seems very low, are you throttling? I was able to run FTB ultimate on my old system, 3570K and 780ti, just fine. I would still check entities and try to figure out if its a memory, cpu or gpu bottleneck.

Have you increased the volume of memory via a batch? If its trying to run everything with 1gb of ram that would explain alot.
