nice clickbait.. your titles have to make sense.

it will stop spinning, any action happening will stop. you might loose/corrupt data.

So I theoretically wouldn’t brick the drive?

shoudn't.
but your data's survival is at high risk.

Probably a slight problem. You didn't try this, did you..?

Maybe... was messing around with my aunt’s old system she gave me. It was just a 250gb so if it’s ruined it’s not to big of a deal.

There wasn’t any data on it, so there’s that.

Let us know how it goes :D

Unfortunately it’s back home, and I’m on a day trip. I miss my desktop. :/

If the drive had a lot running then way more risk due to the amount of data going to and fro, with it moving in and out of volatile cache mediums within the system, so lots of chances for it to go bad.

If its practically blank with not a lot on, probs will be fine.....

Give it a go if you've got hardware that can be killed if it goes wrong, it's always fun to try and see what happens!

Actually this is a pretty similar scenario to Paul and Kyle’s scrapyard wars build in s5. I wonder what caused that.
