do you have z97

if you do:

bios

1.25v

4.1ghz

boot into windows, play some game, 30 minutes later:

reboot

bios

1.25v

4.2ghz

and so on, until it is unstable

once it is, bump the voltage from 1.25v to 1.26v, and so on

don't forget to run a CPU stresser for 2 minutes or so to get the MAX temp, if it is over 85c you need to stop.

edit: max safe voltage is around 1.35v or so, i wouldn't go beyond 1.365v or so for a stable overclock if there's a good stable one at 1.35 or 1.36v

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

you cannot overclock, you need Z series to overclock.

you turn your pc off, start it again and press delete or f5 (during the boot it usually says press X to enter bios), then look for a setting called cpu core ratio

I found this setting and it says auto, but I can change it. What should I do?

great, now the formula is: 100*"this setting"=clock speed, that 100 can also be changed no some boards but it affects most of the features of the board so its not easy to work with (not much benefit either)

so if you want 4.2ghz put in 42 etc,

follow the guide of the first guy that responded
