motherboards Alienware Area 51r2

Hi I'm a Alienware Area 51 r2 owner I just need help  upgrading my motherboard I'm currently have the 2011v3mobo and want to updated to new i7 7700k or new coffee lake any suggestions please ,Thanks.

What CPU are you currently using?

Going from any 2011-v3 cpu to a 7700k will be a downgrade in terms of performance. Maybe slightly better for gaming, depending on your current CPU, but overall it'd be a downgrade.

If you have a reasonable cooling set up over clock the balls off of it! I have my 5820k running at a comfortable 4.4 ghz at 1.28 volts. If I push to 1.3 I can hit 4.6 but that really turns up the heat and I don't need the extra speed yet.

I like the new i7 8700k it's cheaper and powerful I contacted Alienware and they don't sale new motherboards you need  proof of the service tag you own alienware area 51 r4 we paid so much and they don't care.

There's still no reason to upgrade, the i7-5820K won't be obsolete for a while to come

The Area 51 is a standard ATX machine, so you could use any board that physically fits. Ask around Alienware's forum to see what mainboards and dimensions work.

But replacing certain parts, like the mainboard, invalidate OEM Windows activation. The R2 is also not going to retroactively be validated for new hardware combinations, so Dell's not going to sell replacement parts for the off chance that something doesn't work.
