I'm assuming this is the proper place to post this.

Anyway I've been using Chrome Remote Dekstop for a while to access my desktop at home using my phone/laptop and it has worked quite well without any issues.

I want to know if I can use Chrome Remote Desktop with "wake on lan"? I'm assuming that's the correct term to basically turn on my computer remotely as I don't want it to be running 24/7.

Is this even possible with Chrome Remote Desktop or will I need a more extensive software.

Here is my PCpartpicker list if it helps at all.

Thank you!

Wake on Lan command requires you to be on the same network. I'm not too sure you can do what you are asking without first VPN'ing into your network. I'm assuming you don't have a VPN?

Didn't know that, but I actually do have a VPN that I pay monthly for. Is this the same thing? or are you speaking about something completely different.

IF you want to use WOL - you have setup your router first to allow the request to your computer... WOL usually uses port 9 and you'll need the MAC Address of your network card on the machine.     there's guides online for getting this part done. https://www.howtogeek.com/70374/how-to-geek-explains-what-is-wake-on-lan-and-how-do-i-enable-it/

Next- download an app on your phone called WolOn (android) or use a free website that offers WOL like depicus

NOTE - your computer has to be asleep, not shut off for it to turn on/wake up though.  then you should be able to connect..

I have this setup and remote into my home pc via RDP from work.. it's a bit of a setup but worth it.

Thank you! I guess it's not exactly possible to actually turn on your computer remotely in a simple fashion. I'm going to give this a try.
