Dear All,

I would love to know weather what I am planning makes any sense. So:

i3-8100 + 1060 3gb or 1050ti (other? )

Does this make sense with only z370 available? I found quite affordable board: MSI z370-a pro. Prices are quite different in Poland, so I would rather like a general information about what you think.

- 1060 6 gb is too expensive for me.

- I will use some cheapo case

- I do not have any desktop, just old laptop. (I do have an access to an i3-4160 based Dell system for around $50, but would need to buy pretty much all besides CPU as it is small optiplex 7010,and there might be a limit on pcie slot to 50w (cannot find proper info) and there is little to non clearance for 1050 Ti low profile)

- I wish to play some games 1080p not ultra wide or anything. (eg. witcher 3, fallout 4)

Please give me some feedback

Best regards

Ryzen does give you the ability to overclock, you can get around 3.7GHz on the stock wraith cooler that comes in the box or if you wanted to push it to 4.0GHz, then the cooler master hyper 212 evo or CRYORIG H7 are in the $30 and make great budget coolers for keeping temps low. There are B360 and H370 motherboards coming out in 2018 which are locked chipsets that support the locked SKUs of coffeelake and are at a much affordable price then Z370, if you can wait. SSD? Improves boot times/game loading times/everyday general use.

Ryzen 1200 and i3-8100 are same price where I live, and z370 board I found is about $30 more expensive than a320 and about same price as b350.

Then 8100 with 1060 3gb is your best deal. This card's VRAM is a bit limited, so watch out for texture and anti aliasing settings to make sure you dont exceed the VRAM limit. Dont get the 1050ti because of the extra 1GB VRAM, wont compensate for the much weaker core.
