Good day everyone!

I want to seek your guidance. Currently, I have a maximus ranger 8 and i5 7500. I feel like I want to utilize the overclocking capability of my mobo (yeah, i am fcking dumb for not buying a unlock cpu. Moving forward). What I wanna ask is should I buy 7600k or 7700k or should I stay with 7500 and just save the cash for the next upgrade.

    - Im just using my rig for gaming
    - As long as the CPU can run games I play and future games I will not upgrade it. (How long do you think this CPU will last on me before I will need to upgrade it?)
    - I play games like pubg, csgo, batman series, farcry, the witcher, nier:automata etc

    - Will 7700k or 7600k will take me more years before upgrading rather than 7500?

Thanks you!

I'd just buy a 7700K, it'll last for many years to come. It would also be a waste to buy such a nice motherboard and only use it once for a locked i5.

Quote me to see my reply!

i would stick to your current CPU for gaming, unless you have a high-end graphics solution and play at high refresh rate.

I am using a 1280 x 720 reso for now but I am planning to upgrade it too in the future to 1080p 144hz monitor. Currently I have a Asus Strix 1050Ti.

Yah, at lower resolutions and higher frame rates a better CPU can definitely help.

I would say sell the 7500 and go for the 7700K

well...then there you go, you're rocking an old ass monitor with a resolution from another era, and a low-end GPU...i think you have much needed upgrades elsewhere other then your perfectly adequate modern quad-core CPU.

Spend your money on a new monitor first, and then your graphics card...and after all that, if you feel the need to get a better CPU...i would try to hunt down a used 6700K.
