Not really. Some special coolants can gunk up your blocks so regular maintenance and cleaning needs to be performed every 6-12 months. With distilled water, all you need to do is make sure to add a biocide agent to the loop to prevent Algae growth and such that can cause loop issues and bind up your pump. It is also recommended for distilled water loops to flush them and clean them out ever year.
