So i bought this aio liquid cooler a few months back and a few weeks ago my motherboard gave up. The cpu was pretty outdated so i just went ahead and bought an i7 7700k. However i after only a few hours noticed that my idle temps were 90+. Did all the standard troubleshooting, swapped the cooler for my old aio and the idle temps were normal. Changed back to the h100i v2 and temps rocket back up. I thought the screws felt a bit wobbly so i ended up buying a new cooler. At first the temps were normal but when i got back after a few hours and booted the system i got temps at around 90 again.

Mobo: msi z270 gaming m3

Thank you in advance

I had the same problem with my H60 and MSI Z270 - A. The mounting screws were loose but could not be tightened any father. I tried a ton of things to fix it, including cutting the mounting screws and such like. Then, I accidently globbed out a massive amount of thermal paste on my CPU when I was putting my computer back together. Boom! It works perfect now. I would just squirt a ton of thermal paste onto the CPU to make up for the cooler not fitting down properly.
