Is my GPU dying?

What happened : My PC started shutting down by itself and i though it was the cpu, but after testing i found out it was something gpu-related, i though it was the psu, i limited my gpu to 75% max power and didnt work, i found out it is the GPU that was causing the problem. Is it dying? What should i do?

hard to really say.. could be the power supply as well..   may have triggered over current protection.

 

typically a dying GPU exhibits artifacts at stock settings.. usually discoloration/lines and weird shapes..  a PC just shutting off under load tends to lead me to think maybe power supply tripped over current protection or something got too hot and kicked the PC off..

 

 

what power supply do you have, what are the specs of your system?   and age of it..

The CPU is running cool and doesnt present problems, the PSU can handle the entire PC, and my pc shutdowns when gpu usage gets high.

RAM : 2x4gb DDR3

MOBO : GIGABYTE 78LMT-USB3 R6.0

GPU : Gigabyte Windforce 2x GTX 960 4gb OC

PSU : CoolerMaster GX550 CM Storm Edition

i suspect its the power supply...    is the CPU overclocked?  and how much?  how hot does the GPU run under idle and full load?

I'm not sure if 550 watts is enough, but let's suppose it's not the issue: How hot do the GPUs run?

Did you hook up new things like RGB strips or a few hard drives lately?

Not overclocked, Idle= 40celsius Load=70celsius

Its one gpu, Idle= 40celsius Load=70celsius

No RGB equipment on my rig, however there are 3 hdds

not hot enough to be thermal shut off limit..    i would grab a new Power supply try it out, doesn't work you can take it back and get money back..

Maybe via bios for the CPU and msi afterburner for the GPUs?

In MSI Afterburner it doesnt let me change the voltage and the CPU is fine

I meant you should undervolt in order to reduce power consumption. Weird that MSI Afterburner won't let you undervolt by the way...

The thing is, i buy either a GPU or PSU, so i have to know which one is the problem

you dont want to put another gpu on a failing psu either way...

Maybe try using the PC with either of the GPUs, so only one at a time. If both work when used independendly, it's most likely the PSU.

The problem got worse, the pc shutted down and is now power cycling
