PC shutdown during windows install

Q:Windows 10 install help 

So, ive built a custom pc over the last few months and, having got everything else working, i went to install windows. After going through the setup (64 bit, product key, allocating hard drive space etc) the install started however, my computer lost power. When i restarted, i got this error 

An oprerating system wasnt found. Try disconnecting any drives that dont contain an operating system

press ctrl alt del to restart

 

 

 

 

 

 

by unplugging my only HDD, and having the windows 10 install usb in, i got taken back to the install, but obviously, i had nowhere to install it. By doing this i also confirmed that the product key had been counted, no longer allowing me to use it. By going into system settings and making my computer auto boot from the windows 10 usb rather than the hdd the system told me that

 

YOUR PC/DEVICE NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED

the boot config data file doesnt contain valid info for an os

 

file: \boot\BCD

error code 0xc0000098

 

youll need to use recovery tools. If you dont have any install media (i have usb) contact your pc administrator or 

pc/device manufacturer.

 

any help, however simple would be appreciated

Your installation of the Windows operating system is an evaluation unit with an expiration date. The trial period is over.

 

POSSIBLE SOLUTION

 

insert ur key before installing it :v

 

 

 

also if u shutdown while installing windows the installation is corrupt and u need to start over, make sure to install on a clean partition aswell

If I'm getting the event correct, after the install failed, if you try to boot to the installer again with the HDD attached you get a BCD error?

Yeah. I think I might need to get a new copy of windows?

Ok. What do you mean by a "clean partition"? This is my first time building a pc and I have little knowlage of all these terms.

I think I'm just gonna get a brand new install. I can't boot the USB copy I got into setup and when I did, the product key was used up.

No, no that's not how that works. You can use that key.

Download a fresh copy of Windows using the media creation tool on your laptop and try again. Though I suspect you'll need to find a way to format that HDD. In which case you could make a Linux live CD (flash drive) and do it from there.

Hi, done the disk formatting, now, in the install, I'm being told, 

 

windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can only be installed to GPT disks.

Correct. You need to delete all of the partitions on the drive first. Select them one by one and remote until there is only 1 item that says unallocated space (assuming you only have one drive installed).
