Hi All!

I hope you are well

I am in the process of putting together an office PC for my dad. I would like this PC to last for quite a while and its main use is basic document creation and emails.

I currently have chosen:

  • CoolerMaster Elite 130 Case
  • 8 GB Kingston HyperX Fury RAM Kit (4x4)
  • ASRock H110M-ITX Motherboard
  • ADATA Ultimate SU700 ASU700SS-120GT-C
  • 500 GB Seagate Drive (from current PC)
  • CoolerMaster MWE 450 PSU

I am still trying to choose a CPU.

I would like to get an i3 from the LGA 1151 architecture.

Which CPU from that architecture would you recommend and why?

Thank you very much for your time and have a wonderful day!

I would proably get a kaby i3 (i3 7100 is around 100 usd), they have improved 4k streaming for when he watches youtube at work or something and good single threaded performance for browsing.

Of course if he really does only stick to docs and emails he might as well use a pentium 4 xD.

If youve get very old stock of the h110 you might need to update the bios before putting in a kaby chip though.
