BIOS update needed?

Go to solution Solved by malon,

the i7 4770 should work out of the box, the i7 4790 on the other hand would probably require a bios update

Hi all, I'm looking to buy an LGA 1150 system however I've seen that some motherboards need a BIOS update before they can be used with certain chips.

Asus H81M-PLUS

i7-4770

That is the combo I'm looking at buying, if possible could someone please tell me if I need to buy a cheap 1150 Pentium just to update the BIOS or if I'll be fine and they'll work together straight away.

Thanks in advance.

I mean, I'd just buy a Celeron or get someone to do it for you.

Put in your motherboard and it should show you on what BIOS revisions certain CPU's work.
