So I just recently built a gaming computer and when I put it in sleep mode it turn off just fine, but when I try to wake it up by moving the mouse or pressing the power button, all the parts turn on, and the screen lights up black, but it wont go to the log in screen, I have heard that this is an issue with windows 10 but cant find an answer. Anything helps! Thanks

Solution: Just don't use sleep mode. Happened to me way back when I built my PC and ran Windows 7 (something managed to get messed up with drivers), and the only solution was to flip off power and just boot it like normal.

Make sure running latest BIOS? And latest graphics drivers.

Sounds like full-blown hibernation (S4) rather than sleep (S1). See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/kernel/system-sleeping-states

Some BIOS, by the way, let you control these sleep states. My 2011 Gigabyte board does.

Sounds like an issue with sleep states.

As far as I know im not using the creators update, I don't know how it could be hibernation if the mouse/keyboard are able to wake it up. I have it set to sleep after 30 mins and the power button is a sleep button.

Try disabling Hybrid Sleep in power settings in windows and see how you get on with that.

If you're running a HDD as main OS disk.  Depending on how new the mobo you have you might not have any S3 state options in the bios, but if you do make sure S3 is enabled.

Also googling your mobo and said issue might return hits back with similar issues, I don't know because you don't have system specs in your sig, nor have yo listed them :/

If my posts help out, let me know on the feedback buttons.

Parts: Ryzen 5 1600X / GTX 1080 / 16Gb Vengeance LPX / RGB Stuff....

I meant to turn off Hybrid mode and see how you get on with that :)

S3 is a low power state which says to the mobo "keep a little power in the ram and USB components as i need to be back up and running ASAP so don't power me down please"

S4 is hibernation which says "hey you can turn me off off now, i've changed my boot up location"

S5 Is plain off, with the exception of having power going out to USB devices for "fast waking"

G5 or G3 (can't remember which one) is complete off like "Hey. don't give power to anything until that hard button gets pressed and the PSU receives the signal"

Sorry, by saying the hybrid sleep mode, I meant that I did turn it off.

Ill give that a try with the S3

So I went into the BIOS and didint find anything for the sleep mode, I did however see that my RAM is at 2133, and I have 3000. Should I overclock it to 3000? I'm wary of that as I have trident z which supposedly doesnt play well with ryzen, and I can live with it being at 2133 as theres not a drastic difference.

Humm, your have the same Mobo and CPU as me, my ram is currently at 2933, and I updated my bios to 0902 last night.  It failed first post (done the 4 beeps) restarted and then posts fine.  That just happens now and im to lazy to investigate although i suspect its power draw and not getting enough when cold booting.

I'm not too sure about your ram, but 2400mhz is 100% doable, so i'd set that as that should be your "Custom" default.  Anything over that is a bonus and not mandatory.

None of this will help with the Sleep issue btw, this is just a side quest for you as you happened to mention itxD

-------------------------------

Have you updated all your drivers GPU/Mobo.  Now that i know you've disabled hybrid mode, have you tried to turn off windows PCIe power management?  You can do that by clicking start and typing "edit power plan", set it to moderate or off.

I know this is rare but it could be your monitor too, if the gfx card isn't sending it a wake signal because it thinks it hasn't been turned off (sleep mode) it wont turn back on.  If your monitor has DVI HDMI and DP try setting it to the one port you're using and not to use auto detect.  That way, it's constantly watching one input for a signal regardless of a "wake spike"

Are you saying to just make it shutdown? im fine with that as I now have it set to never sleep automatically, and the power button as sleep. So I should make the power button shutdown? totally fine with that as I can boot in 15 seconds or less

If it doesn't work and it doesn't take forever for your PC to boot, then yeah. Or if it's quiet enough/not retina-burning you could just leave it running.
