Webdav Office 365 issues

So basically we have a webdav network drive mapped on everyones pc in the office, obviously we share files, however more than one person can open the same document at the same time and it doesn't alert them, therefore we are losing data constantly. any ideas?

Use sharepoint. webdav isn't for this purpose.

WebDav is ancient, slow, not that secure and full of issues.

Use OneDrive for Business sync client and make sure to be on latest Office version which should give you co-authoring functionality in some scenarios.

Use sharepoint or a local centralized file server with online backups

OneDrive for Business or SharePoint online - either will solve your issues however be aware that there are limitations
