I have an EVGA Gtx 970 that was working fine. Left the system off for about 3 weeks and when I came back to it the system wasn't turning on. Fans would twitch then nothing at all. Switched out the pus's and it helped for about a week but now nothing seems to work. When I pulled out the 970 and put in my old 660 it boots up just fine.. What would cause my 970 to lock up the system to where it wouldn't turn on?

Could have been a spike in the voltage that has fried something on the 970.
