Hi, I'm expecting a r5 1600 to arrive tomorrow and was wondering if the stock cooler would get me to 4ghz or should I get an after market one. Was looking at a water cooler but was unsure of rad size. Most common seems to be 240 but having read that water is over kill I was thinking about a 120 or would that still be overkill. Also read that the darkrock is a good air cooler for Ryzen

Thank you

It'll get you to around 3.7. Definitely not to 4.

As good as the stock cooler is, it won't do 4GHz, in fact not all that many R5's seem to do 4GHz, so it's even less likely to do so (although you can win the silicon lottery)

Yours faithfully

Dont get your hopes up for the "magic 4g"

Settle for a quiet cheap cooler and 3.8 , 3.9.

Stock is good, its still loud if you have pc on your desk. I imagine overclocking would make it unbearable even to non-quietPC freaks.

I can get a DEEPCOOL MAELSTROM 120T for about £40 would that suffice?
