Today I installed a new TV Tuner card into my PC so that I could connect my antenna to get access to local channels. Once I installed the drivers from the manufactures' website, the computer needed to be restarted. When I restarted the computer, Windows had a BSOD or the automatic repair screen. I have the computer working now by using a system restore point and removing the TV Tuner. How do I make the TV Tuner Card work without corrupting the Windows installation? All BIOS settings relating to the PCI express slots are set to default. I have also tried this card on multiple PCI express slots and got the same results. The system specifications are as follows:

Motherboard: Supermicro X10DAC

TV Tuner Card: WinTV1850

Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center

boot in safe mode an uninstall the tv tuners driver, its probably crashing as its trying to load in the driver ( maybe u installed one for a wrong os? idk :P )

I was able to get Windows working after using system restore. However, that is without the TV Tuner driver.

There aren't separate drivers for different versions of Windows. http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_hvr1800.html

I don't have any more USB ports available, but I have plenty of PCIe slots! The USB PCIe cards rarely work, and hubs result in clutter!

i never had any issues with usb pci-e cards o,o not even once

anyway depending on how much u care about the tv tuner, u might wanna try downgrading to windows 7 :)

or change to windows 10, it could be the issue is only there with 8.1 tbh

u can always get an usb extension that plugs into ur mobo btw, those work straight off teh mobo

The quality of the USB PCIe Cards is very inconsistent. You must had gotten some of the higher binned ones. Windows 8.x is officially supported by the TV Tuner card. I already have an Internal USB port on the motherboard but I need a way to get the Coax cable into the case.
