S340 Elite Question

After pulling the trigger on a R7 1700 build, I ordered all the parts and have everything but the MOBO and Windows 10. I decided to go with the S340 Elite because of its sleek look and after getting it delivered I have a few questions

 

1) There is this hole on the right side of the case directly to the right of the fan as you can see in the picture. I wasn't too sure what went there and what is used to cover that. I'm pretty sure its not the IO shield since that goes on the very bottom.

2) Do the fans blow in or out of the case? There are two fans one on the top and one on the far left (near that hole) I'm a little worried about temps in general and I want as little dust as possible. 

3) Are the two fans enough? And where can I buy the exact ones that are already in the case? Also, can you put fans where a radiator would go on the side and if so, where does the air come from? The front is pretty much blocked off.

4) On the very top of the case where the power button and what not are, there is a hole aswell. Is there any way to cover this and what is it for?

Had to move my post to cases from New Builds and Plannings...

Uh, no it doesn't. Why would you think the motherboard IO shield goes in the bottom of the case?

Depends which way theyre oriented.

Depends on your specs, but most likely yes.

Anywhere that sells them. They're NZXT FN V2 fans. You shouldn't buy them though. If you're buying new fans, buy better ones.

I'm sure there are probably ways to cover it, get creative if you want. You're going to limit airflow even more though since that's why the cut outs are there, top and bottom.

1) yeah, that hole by the rear fan is for the io shield. 

2) that rear fan is set up as an exhaust, pay attention to the fan blades, they're designed to scoop and push air

3) maybe, probably better to have one intake in the front and that exhaust in the back.

4) looks like it was designed that way, air has to get in somehow after all and that panel doesn't look like it lets much air through except the top and bottom

The hole in the back beside the fan is for the IO shield the bottom are for expansion cards. 

For fans you can configure them to exhaust or intake currently the rear fan is exhaust, and you can get replacement fans or other options as needed.

As for the top of the case you cannot cover the opening as that is where the intake for the case is both the top and bottom are open for intake.

Depends on your specs, but most likely yes.

Anywhere that sells them. They're NZXT FN V2 fans. You shouldn't buy them though. If you're buying new fans, buy better ones.

2) R7 1700 Stock cooler GTX 1080

3) I wanted to get them for the looks, to match the rest of them. I was looking at Noctua but hate that Earthy tone.

 

4) On the right side of this picture, where the front would be. There is a place to put a radiator, can that also be used to put regular fans like the other ones that come with it? It's hard to explain, sorry.

First of all, sorry for having two threads. No one was responding at first on my initial post and I figured it would be better to post it in the Cases section but wasn't too sure how to move it. 

 

What replacement fans would you recommend? I wan't something that looks nice and matches the rest of the case.

Also, do you think there will be enough airflow with just those two fans? I'm going to be running a 1700 with stock cooler and a GTX 1080. I'd love to overclock pretty high but don't want to ruin anything. I'm planning on upgrading the cooler in the future aswell, I love the look of the Kraken X62 but it's insanely expensive.

I mean, I have no idea what coolers you're using for either, so again, depends. Like I said though, it's pretty likely that 2 fans will be perfectly adequate. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't enough for a functioning system.

They're just black fans aren't they? Get any other black fan. Be Quiet Pure Wings 2 or SilentWings 3 would be my go to's for fans. Or EK Vardar's.

You said the side, which was confusing. Yes, those are fan mounts. Radiators mount to the same place as fans would. Hence why you need 2 x 120mm fans on a 240mm radiator, or 2 x 140mm fans on a 280mm radiator.

So I have this. But I got Some Corsair ML Fans. The Included fans run loud and don't push much air.

Thanks for the suggestion on the Be Quiet Pure Wings 3, those look great. I'll definitely pick up two in the future to add to the fan mounts where the radiator would go. Do you happen to know which size to get? 2 x 120mm or 2 x 140mm? Or would either one fit?

1) nope io shield goes where mobo usb ports and all are

3) noctua makes less colorful fans, there are also other decent fans makers in the market...

4) yeah you can put fans there, as mentioned the upper and lower holes on the front panel are to provide air an inlet for air to get in

I own this case and personally, I would run 2 intake fans in the front of the case and an exhaust fan out the back. The reasoning behind this is that it will keep a good direction of airflow, and there also is a dust filter on the front fan mounts unlike the top fan mount.

 

For fans, how fancy are you looking? Are you into RGB, or are you looking for some plain, black fans?

I got recommended the Be Quiet Pure Wings 3 which would look good but those LEDs would look even better. It's sitting right on my desk so having some LED's in there would look great. They arent RGB right? Just white LEDS?

I do want RGB in the future, its sitting right on my desk and I already have led strips installed behind my desk and wlould love to have some RGB stuff in the case later on such as the HUE+. Is there any cheap but good RGB fans you can recommend? If not, some good black ones will be just fine.

OH Yeah, you get to pick them on the type of fan you get. I believe though there is an RGB One that works with AURA SYNC.

S340 fits 2 x 120mm or 2 x 140mm in the front. A single 120mm OR 140mm up top, and only a 120mm in the rear. I'd run those stock fans for now, then dump them when you have a bit more money and can/will upgrade case fans. Then grab 3 Pure Wings 2's. Run 2 x 140mm in the front as intake and a single 140mm up top(or 120mm in the rear) as exhaust.

Corsair, NZXT, and thermaltake all make pretty decent RGB fans, but depending on your definition of cheap they may be too much. No matter which one of those brands you go with, you're looking at $80(ish) USD for 3 of them. Thermaltake would be the cheapest option.

 

Other than that, just try typing RGB Case Fan into amazon and see what you get for a result
