I've heard about people having issues with the drivers for that thing on the amazon page

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I have had issues with certain audio equipment before, and the issue was the USB port wasn't adequately powering the device.  While I don't want to get your hopes up, a powered USB hub may solve the issue.

Did you use one that had a wire to plug in to a wall outlet as well?

no i only use it for recording on my computer or talking to friends on my computer ive never tried into a wall and it would be hard to test that because it happens so randomly it can go a few days without happening then randomly happen again

That's not what I meant.  I was asking if any of your USB hubs were "powered".

As you can see, this USB hub has two wires coming out.  One for connecting to the computer, and one for connecting to a power outlet.  That's what makes this a "powered" USB hub.  The hub doesn't rely on the computer's USB ports to give the hub power, thus if your computer's USB ports aren't up to snuff (in terms of providing power), these may be a solution.

This is the one that's in the picture.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VDVCQ84/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

While not cheap, It has helped me with restarting issues on a DAC that I used to own.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HL7Z46K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is a cheaper option that I also own.  USB 2.0 only for this one.

I can't guarantee that ether of these will fix your problem, but even if they don't work, they are high quality hubs that will give you a lot more ports.

No problem.  :)

One more question, if you don't mind.  Are you using a laptop or desktop?

I'm really curious to see if this solves your problem.  I've seen everyone complaining about driver issues but it turns out that it's actually just a power delivery issue, that will be very interesting indeed.
