So I am trying for my first custom loop, and also my first watercooling solution. I've been watching lots of how to's and ltt vids(very cool btw), and started ordering parts.. Today I finnaly started to put everything together and when I wanted to full the system and powered on the pump (alphacool vpp755) it pushed next to no liquid into the tubes. after some fiddling and some adapting the pump sometimes turned on but hardly any fluid got through. After reverting my system back to stock cooling I started testing.
The resevoir with pump attached and short tube from out to in connected to the molex for power resulted in a perfectly fine working pump. I could hear it and see the fluid pushed through no problem. Adjusting speed was fine and all. so then I though maybe my psu isnt powerfull enought to power the whole thing with the extra fans on the radiator and all so I tested the system with everything on the psu (pc stock colling and water pump and fans on the molex) it worked fine.. so then I tried the pump connected to the radiator (a phobia exterme quad 480/560) and see if it would work.

That yielded the result I had when I had the whole system connected of the pump not pumping any liquid to the radiator.. after attemting to blow through the radiator myself (blowing on either one of the tubes) thinking it might be obstructed, I got liquid through fine.

The resevoir is full the radiator is full onlye the tubing was empty and was very short.

I dont understand why the pump wont work. I think it hard to believe this pump would be to weak to get a loop of just a quid radiotor going.

any answers and help will be greatly apriciated.

Welcome to the Forums!

The pump is strong enough for all of that but it sounds like you have trapped air in the loop try cracking a port or moving the system around to see if the fluid starts making it's way around the loop.

Also can you post a photo of the loop that helps with troubleshooting.

I took it back to stock air cooling so I can trouble shoot :P. I tried that too and had a port open for letting air out. didn't seem to help also the pump sounds like it bearly ramps up with a slightly bigger loop ( just the res and the radiator). weirly enough..

thx for your thoughts

Ok so yeah, I started figureing with smaller loop and some hands on experience. Thank you for your input you were 100 percent right. It was air in the loop. my brain just didn't see the logic in the pump not being able to pump liquid if it had just because there was air in an other part of the loop. So I got it working!

YAY!!!!

Thanks again!
