I dont know what is going on but recently I am getting weird things when I boot-up my system.

Sometimes it boots on two screens and in the windows login in screen it just freezes or it just doesnt show anything at all and I have to reboot completely.

It is annoying because I have to reboot it once before it works properly!

Dont know what hardware (or software) is causing this.

Cpu, gpu, motherboard drivers all work fine and games and other programms run as they should after the second boot.

No overclock applied on the cpu as well as the gpu.

My 16gb of ram have been tested with a ramtest and work just fine.

Ssd is main boot drive and another 1tb hdd for mass storage.

Unless someone can think of something else... if you're a fan of formatting,  I would as a test

It doesn't sound like a mobo issue,  otherwise you'd be getting more than just the issue you're having

It doesn't sound like a GPU issue, because you say you game on it pretty regularly without issue

That's why I'm leaning toward your SSD.  Formatting will only fix if its a corruption issue, it wont fix a bad sector on any storage device.

But lets say you format, and you still have the problem. Then the issue becomes either a hardware problem with the SSD, OR the conclusion of the test would be that  it's not the SSD at all.  Troubleshooting is a lot of guess work, but you should approach it by eliminating the obvious, until you have a set of less obvious choices.  What ever is left over is usually the issue.

How did that Sherlock Holmes quote go?

I'll try formatting it, but can I format it with the option to save my files and just reset windows or do I need to wipe it entirely.

Good quoting :PxD

I would wipe the whole drive to be safe,  save your data to the 1tb drive :D

Ok, thank you so much for your help :)

And since you are here can I ask you what you think is the best mechanical rgb keyboard on the market that I can get for ~150 (euros, dollars, ponds).

You can reset windows, it may be a corrupt file within the OS. That way your ssd may still be perfectly fine and a reinstall will either fix the issue or it will persist after the fact. Unplug your 1TB hdd while you do all testing, since you don't want to accidentally touch any of that data.

Before resetting/reinstalling, you can search online for a ssd health check software and test if it detects any defects on the drive.

What ssd health check software do you recommend?

Why do you want a mechanical?  I really advise my friends against it, unless its something you seriously prefer.  When they were first releasing and when the hype was real I invested so much money into them only to find that I prefer low profile keys more than anything.

My PERSONAL preference are these over mechanical.  The Logitech can't hold a charge for crap, esp if you're a night owl, but the keys are extremely low profile that its less stress for me to press them.

I'd really tell you to find your preference first.  Find a store that has them on display and try out the different types of switches ( Reds, Blues, Browns) etc  I like blues, but the wife banned me from buying them

Yeah its a good keyboard if you like browns,  I'd give that one my thumbs up if you can afford it.  It also doubles as an axe by the way.  The metal finish is really fairly sharp :D

If you haven't wiped the drive yet (and reinstalled) and that hasn't solved the issue, here's one thing to look out for:

Make sure you check your power settings - make sure the computer actually turns off and doesn't "deep sleep" instead!

Also, try disabling hibernation. To me that sounds like corrupt hibernation not restoring properly - hence the proper boot the second time around.

Cheers,
