Hey guys, very noobish question as I don't have much experience with networking in general. In my area we have been having problems with our cellular reception lately, so I decided to upgrade my Comcast service to include voice services mostly for emergency situations, and redundancy.

So they sent me this all in one box (dont have the make/model as I am at work currently but could update with that information) it appears to be a cable modem/voip/wireless router combination. It has 4 lan ports on the back as well as a couple of phone jacks.

My current setup is a modem that feeds into my linksys e1200 wireless router for my wifi, and then that feeds into a tplink 8 port gigabit switch.

I know it is possible to use two routers on the same network, but will this all-in-one solution function similarly to a regular router to where I can continue using my existing setup and add this device in place of my current modem? If yes I would just go out of the all-in-one box into one of the lan ports on my linksys router? I hope that I will be able to keep my current setup because if my thinking is right I would be able to boost my wifi coverage, keep my gigabit switch, and have voip home phone. Please let me know if this is possible. And sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just not entirely sure how these all-in-one solutions work. Also if I need to send that back and get some sort of other equipment from Comcast that would be no problem. Thank you for any help you guys can provide.

The more all in one they are the horrible it gets, however this should be pretty straight forward. Put the new router/modem in bridge mode and connect to it via PPPoE from your linksys box.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

Thank you for the quick response. Would it be worth calling Comcast and seeing if they have any other option besides the all-in-one? I know that they aren't the highest quality. Otherwise thank you for the help and that is how I will set it up.
