THANKS IN ADVANCE!

don't worry about it. just touch a radiator in your house before you start building. or if you're in a hot place that doesn't have a use for a radiator any metal pipe or rod that you know goes underground (water-pipes if they're copper not PVC)

Basically just plug something into the grounding pin in your outlet, and you can attatch yourself to it to ground yourself.

You really only need to plug your PSU into the plug and touch it regularly and try not to make static electricity (e.g. rubbing feet on carpet) while building your PC.

Wearing gloves: probably don't do that. sounds like static electricity could be created depending on the gloves

Wrist band: you could do this, nothing wrong with this one.

Usually nothing goes wrong if you didn't ground, I didn't ground myself and my PC worked out fine. However, grounding yourself is a good precaution to take.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Do not turn the PSU on. You can achieve the same effect by holding on to your computer case for a few seconds every now and then. Another tip is to avoid working a static prone workspace. Such as avoid building on carpet. Hard floors are better. Wear shoes instead of walking around in socks. All simple precautions you can take.

The sure fire way though is one of those ESD wrist straps that can be clipped to your case.

anything plugged in to the wall is connected to earth, even when the switch is off. so do not power it on.

The Earth in your power point is just a metal pole in the ground that has a copper wire permanently connected to every metal surface and appliance in your house.

so just plug the psu in, turn it off, and clip the clipper of the wrist band to the psu?

take off all wool and loose clothing.

take off your socks.

put the psu in the case.

plug it into wall with switch off.

clip your wrist strap to any metal surface on the case.

I actually dont use a strap, i just touch the case before touching electronics and after walking across carpet.
