Hi to everyone, I'm keen to ask whether active adapter hdmi (male) to vga (female) would work or not when I connect it to the monitor. I want connect adapter's hdmi to the monitor and vga to 2x vga (male) cable, and vga cable to my old notebook, which supports only vga, I'm aware that there are easier ways to connect my old notebook to monitor, for example directly from vga to hdmi adapter and then hdmi cable to the monitor, but the point is that these vga to hdmi adapters are kinda expensive, so I'm curious perhabs everything would work fine and with my first mentioned configuration, which is affordable for me..

In content I have attached pic of adapter what I was talking about..

If it's an active HDMI to VGA adaptor, it would (or at least, should) only work converting from an HDMI input (ie. from the GPU) to a VGA output (to connect to a display) and not from a VGA input to an HDMI output, as (AFAIK) most active adaptors are one way. So you can get VGA to HDMI and HDMI to VGA, but they're not interchangeable.

For what you want, you'd need an active VGA to HDMI adaptor. What monitor and laptop do you have?

Thank you for clarification , I expected that they all are two-way signal sending..

my laptop is hp 6530b  https://www.cnet.com/g00/products/hp-compaq-6530b-14-1-core-2-duo-p8600-windows-7-pro-xp-pro-downgrade-2-gb-ram-250-gb-hdd-series/specs/?i10c.referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.lt%2F

and monitor is dell u2414h.  Next question arises for me whether my obsolete notebook's gpu will handle my new monitor once I will have done with connections..
