So I am trying to help a friend out who works from home but also takes his pc with him for power point. He will not be doing any gaming on it at all but will be doing some light photo shop work.

His wants,

1. Small Form Factor

2. Disk Drive ( I know I know its 2017 but this is not for me)

3. Display Port.

4. OS included in Price.

His Budget is around $650 give or take some. But I would really like to get him the best thing for the best price so If I can get him under Budget that would be great.

The Biggest problem I have come across is the good small cases cost more than some of the hardware Im wanting to put in it.

I found something that is almost in his budget that is a prebuilt and Im almost leaning towards telling him to go ahead and pick it up. ( link below)

Any recommendations on case or the best hardware to include would be great thanks :)

Can he not use his phone & cast PP presentations? Certainly a lot less trouble than carting around a pc case, even a small one.

He could but it's not a matter of what he could or could not a matter of what he wants. For his needs, I would tell him to just get a cheap tablet and cast from it but he still wants something for his home office. He will use it for web research and cross-reference software as well. He is just tired of a laptop.

There is a big difference between getting something for a home office and the OP spec. The budget is tight but possible for an mATX or ATX system. The problem is that it becomes extremely difficult for a mini-ITX that is transportable and can be used for Photoshop.

BTW you still have not fixed the OP link (Pre-Built I found). Edit the post. Click in the link. Click on the link button. Remove the garbage at the front of the URL.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($89.89 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - C7 40.5 CFM CPU Cooler  ($29.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI - H270I GAMING PRO AC Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($78.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Crucial - Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($67.99 @ Amazon)

Power Supply: Silverstone - Strider Gold 450W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular SFX Power Supply  ($87.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $599.73

Drop the Cryorig C7 and just use stock cooler if you want to save $30. You can get OS for <$30 and an external optical drive for <$20 ez. You could easily get a cheaper mITX case and/or PSU but I went for something small/nice and portable, with a modular PSU to save a lot of hassle when bulding in this case. You could drop the SSD to a 250GB 850 EVO to save $50 if you want. Maybe see about getting a used Skylake or Kaby Lake i5. You should be able to get a locked i5 for $140ish.

Otherwise, to get it with a new i5 and within budget, you need to drop the cooler and get the 250GB SSD;
