Raid Card help

Hey guys, So I’m trying to help a local photography  business. They had guy that was building them a NAS and ended up baling on them in the middle of the build.  Most of the parts are on hand, well all but the raid controller. The array he was going for is 6X 6TB hdds.  They are going to using this for data backup for all the Photos the company has.

                                                                                                                                                           

The info I need is which raid (5,6,10) would be best for this size of a array. Speed is not a big deal. I also was wondering if you guys had any recommendation on a good raid card that would work for it. I have done raids in the past but nothing on this size. Most of the time is 2 to 4 drives max.

How much capacity do you need?  The way I understand it is that raid 10 is the best choice but will use more of the drive space in redundancy. 

The array will be faster and more reliable with raid 10, but will have less available space.

From what I'm understanding they have SD cards laying around everywhere. The main guy buys a new SD card for every new shoot and that is how he stores the pictures. Its really hard to figure how much he needs. Even he dose not know how much he will need. But 6x 6TB drives in raid 10 should be around 18 ish TB right?
