Ubuntu Server Setup

Hi, im a Hobbyist that would like to setup a server in his basement.

Is it theoretically possible to set up ubuntu server to simultaniously work as NAS and Operrating system (4 users) ?

And if that is possible, how difficult would it be to add other applications (Host,...) ?

Id also like to note that I 1.) am a total Linux noob (no experience in bash, shell, ...) and 2.) am from germany, so i may get some words wrong

thanks for helping

The hardest part is just the drives. I imagine it doesn't make sense to subject 4 users to any OS other than Windows. What are you looking to store on the NAS and how much space do you need?

Yes, you can do almost anything. There are no license/edition restrictions like a proprietary system has.

No problem. In terminal use apt search <application name> to find what it is called in ubuntu's repos. Then to install:

sudo apt install <application name>

archwiki and debianwiki are good keywords to throw in any web search.

Only flaw I can find is "am" should be "I am" or the short form "I'm", just like ich bin

Just the usual stuff like videos, pictures, documents and so on.

I think im going to opt for 1tb, i dont have enough important data that raid would be necessary

I can add more drives (and raid) later on if theres a need for it, right ?

i dont think that will suffice, since my internet download in somewhere around 1.2 MB/s.

Also, my future occupation will (hopefully) be IT-Specialist, so I should probably opt for data security to be able to use it for my job
