Hello Guys, So I recently joined this Forum, I hope everyone is having a good day, umm so I am starting a discussion about my recently bought Dell Precision T3500, and I was wondering this, do I have to keep the computer powered on almost all of the time, all the time, or just turn it off only at night?, I am really scared if something bad happens to it, because right now I am trying to get the computer as a Gaming and Workstation Rig, I will appreciate to everyone that can help me with this, Thank You.  :)

oh and I have another problem with The computer, so I just Installed windows 7 on it and every time I try to boot into it, it just keeps stuck on "Starting Windows" screen, but, if I go and boot in safe mood and start MSCONFIG.exe and make a clean boot and restart it, it boots into windows normally, but every time I get stuck on that screen, I have to do all of the above, if somebody knows about why are these problems Happening and how can I solve them, I will be really Happy Thank You. ;)

If somebody needs the Dell's Specifications here they are:

Intel Xeon W3550

4GB RAM

NVIDIA QUADRO FX580

525W SILVER DELL PSW

X2 500 GB HDD'S

Do a clean install of Windows to eliminate anything leftover from the previous owner. Doesn't seem they've bothered to take the time to clean it up before selling it. Also, you can turn the system off when you're not using it. Dell's Precision line of systems certainly better designed for continuous 24/7 operation compared to consumer ones; but it isn't necessary to keep it on all the time. In fact, it'll be more beneficial as you generally reduce wear and tear.

Mhmmmm, that's odd. If it was my system, I would just say screw it and reinstall Windows regardless. There's probably a way to fix it but it's:

a. Not worth my time or effort since reinstalling Windows only takes half an hour or so.

b. If there's a major issue like that already, there are probably others waiting to be discovered.

I've only heard of systems (that aren't enterprise grade like the Precision series) failing after being run extensively 24/7. I've never heard of a system breaking because the owner shuts it down too often so I wouldn't worry about that.

No other mayor things, that is the only problem that I am having with the computer so far, besides that everything is all right, so maybe reinstalling windows will do the work,or maybe should I upgrade from 7 to 10 once and for all? I can activate windows and upgrade it but I am not sure if it is a good idea...

Thanks!!!
