I'm starting to plan a NAS Media server to store mainly videos and music that I can run PLEX off of. I plan on having a max of four streams running at one time, and I would like to have the server rack mounted in a 2U space. To connect to the rest of the network I will attaching it to my Cisco SG200-26 smart switch. For operating system I would like to use Free NAS. This will be pretty much my first build, since my only other build was around 10 years ago.

My part list currently consists of:

Mother board: Supermicro MBD-X11SSH-F-0 Micro ATX

Case: Rosewill Server Chassis RSV-Z2600 - 2U

CPU Xeon E3-1230 V5 3.4 GHz

Memory: x2 Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2133 288 pin (HX421C14fb2/8)

HHD: x3 WD Red 3TB

SSD: Samsung EVO m.2 2280 250GB

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3

Some of my concerns revolve around the size of the PSU and compatibility between the M.2 SSD motherboard and CPU.

Thank you in advanced

@immcpat, if you are worried about M.2 compatibility why not go with the 2.5" version of the drive?

The psu is 150mm long. The chassis user manual illustrates a drive bay configuration that easily permits 165mm psu. But if you want more space in the chassis you might consider a Corsair SF600 or Silverstone SX600-G SFX psu with an ATX adapter plate.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

@brob, Thanks for the advice. You're 100% right that I should go with the 2.5" SSD, I'm really just going for the M.2 for the cool new stuff factor and probably should dial back for my first build. I'll start looking into the alternate PSU's as well.
