I bought a 1TB External HDD to store all the games I need for Testing different computers. But steam always wants to be a bitch and not recognize the game when i put them in the steam apps. When I download them it doesn't recognize the files it deletes them.  How can I do this, I Installed windows on it just so I can boot on it and do it but still this bitch gives problems.

ARe you using the import feature that steam has?

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Sorry, probably not the best name for it. Kind of sets steam library folders.

You can get to it by:

Setting>Downloads> (First option)

Try adding the path to your downloaded steam games. It should recognize it for you, and you shouldn't have to re download everything.

"Selected drive already has a library folder"

Sorry, I'll try this again.

Install windows somewhere else (on different drive)

Boot from new windows install drive

Install steam, etc.

Now in Steam, set up the library folder to be the one on the external drive.

You should now be able to play games off your external drive.
