I just built a new computer with an Asus Strix b350-f Gaming mobo, 8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666Mhz, Ryzen 7 1700, Asus Strix Rx 480 8GB, Corsair RM650x PSU, and an OCZ Trion 150 960GB SSD. Every Game I've tried to run today keeps locking up and crashing, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and it keeps saying there is an issue with my display driver, but I just updated everything to the newest versions. Any idea as to what my problem is?

Did all the games run normally before?

did you update the motherboard drivers -- off the disc if they still come with them.

windows is up to date?

can you disconnect from the net and still play any of those games? ( physically disconnect internet cable ).

open device manager and disable or uninstall all sound drivers you are not using. don't let windows reinstall them.

I updated the bios, just installed the drivers for my graphics card, LAN, audio, etc etc. Just fresh installed windows 10.

if you are ok with it delete the entire steam download folder from the hard drive and everything in it. Then let steam create a fresh download folder

If I do that could I move the save files around and replace them once the install is finished?

before you do that could you be more specific on what happens when you try to play a game

If I try to run Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for example, sometimes the game just goes to a black screen, and sometimes the game loads into my previous save and crashes after about 3 seconds or so.

when it crashes does it return you to the desktop or does it completely lock your computer

Just returns me to the desktop. It also says something about a display driver, but all my drivers are up to date I think.

hm ok and the crashing only occurs when you load a game?

Yes. I was just installing drives and programs before while watching some youtube and everything was fine. A couple stutters here and there but I think that was due to things being installed.

most save files are in your appdata folder (a hidden folder in c:\users\<yourname>) not your steam folder.

Unfortunately, if you reinstalled windows thinking your saves were on your backup hard drive where you steam folder is... you just lost most of your save games..

I really hate to be the bringer of bad news but that's the situation you're in.

now as for your problem..

I would try taking out that graphics card and put it back in making sure it snaps down right (don't push too hard though).  Also unplug the power cables for it and plug them back in on both the video card side and the power supply side.. of course after shutting everything down and unplugging the main power cable from the back of the PC.

Sometimes it can not be inserted right and cause issues like this.

If you have trouble pushing down on that tab on the PCIe lane to pop the graphics card out, use an unsharpened pencil to push down on it. Just don't use a screwdriver like some people suggest. That's a dumb thing to do because you can ruin your motherboard if it slips.

So, even if I have the save files backup they're lost anyway? That's a real bummer. If there was an issue with power delivery though, wouldn't that cause more issues other than just when I'm running games?

If you backed up that appdata folder or backed up your saves some other way like enabling a cloud saving feature in each game than you're fine, but no the steam folder does not contain your save flies so backing that up does not backup your saves other than maybe a small minority of games that still work like that. All of your online games will be fine at least because of how they cloud save and anything else that automatically does that like no man's sky for example.

Not necessarily. I had a similar issue with the screen going black and reseating the graphics card fixed it. It could be that the problem only comes up when the GPU is under load right.
