has anyone installed a Thermalright xp-90c on to an lga 1151 platform board? its not listed as a supported socket, but the shape and style would be perfect for my cooler master haf xb evo chassis.

Wow, I googled that case and it looks like a printer chassis. Anyway, that heatsink is over a decade old, so it's probably safe to assume that it is not. Here is a list of passive coolers I could find on PCPP that were compatible with the HAF XB EVO: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/products/cpu-cooler/#sort=-price&W=0&F=1

HEADS UP, THIS ACCOUNT IS INACTIVE NOW

I'm keeping everything else the way it was for anyone who might check out my answers in future, but I won't be using LTT.

If you are willing to ghetto it. LGA115x came after, so my guess is no. You are better off with some other more modern cooler.

the thing i like about this cooler, is that the 200mm fan in the top of the case would blow air straight thru the fins. my case has a lay down (horizontal) motherboard layout. and most other coolers would require another fan to blow air across the fins.  there are not many coolers that are set up with their fins like this.

There are ton of down-draft coolers where you can remove fan and achieve same thing. If you like the design, Scythe or Zalman have similar style which have support for LGA115x.
