Is there or could there be such thing as an external m.2 nvme SSD that is running through thunderbolt 3?

You can get external enclosures for m.2 SSD's that connect to your pc via USB 3.0 to sata cable.

An external m.2 nvme SSD through thunderbolt 3 would greatly improve speeds in terms of data transfer because the bandwidth wouldnt be a problem.
