Good free virus scan program?

My brother tried to download free games

And im afraid of a malware infection on his pc, does anyone know about a good free virus scan or can i just use windows defender

Edit: If you're lazy Windows defender is ok too. Personally, I use malwarebytes and scan about once a month, with windows defender running in the background.

Defender ( the default one that comes with windows) has certainly improved vastly over the years..  I'd say id prefer it over any antivirus now

Windows Defender is great built-in av, you could also add MalwareBytes if you really paranoid.

Malwarebytes for malware and a normal antivirus for regular scans (avira is the best free antivirus but when it scans it uses a lot of cpu power, switched to bitdefender for that reason).
