Which 1080?

I've been scouring the internet for information but I haven't found any actual conclusive reviews on which GTX 1080 I should use for my upcoming build.

In case it matters, here are the specs...

 

i7-7700K

GA-Z270P-D3

PNY Anarchy DDR4-2400 16 gb (2x8)

2 tb Seagate hard-drive

NZXT S340

550 watt power supply

 

I have been looking at the 1080 Founder's Edition because it looks cool, but it's thermal performance sucks.

Any suggestions?

Really the best one is the cheapest one, i would just get which looks best to you at the cheapest price. Just make sure you dont get "DT" EVGA cards and you should be fine.

Would the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 D5X suffice?

Or should I stick with something like a Zotac AMP Extreme?

Yeah, Gigabyte makes good cards, at least on the nvidia side.

EVGA FTW2 's are very good, I bought one and have been certainly pleasantly surprised. they are still going for very good prices on newegg as well

I think you are going to need a different power supply i don't think that 550 watt is going to do so good

My entire build consumes less than 400 watts. Would upgrading my PSU have any benefits?

a 550 watt will be fine, most 7700k/1080 builds use sub 400 at load. if peak efficiency is your concern then sure, a 750 would be better but, unnecessary

only to power efficiency, basically unnecessary unless you're worried about a few bucks power wasted here and there
