PC not working with 360 controller

Just finished installing Asseto Corsa. My 360 controller isn't working at all It connects to the PC and charges but doesn't work even though it is recognized. Have you ever experienced this and what should I do to fix it? I mean racing an S1 around the Nordschliefe is not fun with a keyboard Oh and by the way, the 360 controller is a wireless one and uses a charge pack to connect to the PC, though that doesn't stop if from the computer recognizing it. I've also tried different USB ports. HELP

Charge packs do not work for allowing controller input from 360 controllers

I believe that method has a lot of issues with properly functioning, as it still treats it as a wireless controller, although it's charging.

Ah. So would I have to buy a 360 connection dongle?

Ok thanks I will get one as soon as possible. But one question would an MS Speed Wheel work with the dongle? I currently don't have a wheel and want to use it for Asseto Corsa, what are my options?
