So about a month ago my 6~ year old pc broke down and I finally decided to go for a completely new build. At first I was going to buy a 1080 but decided to wait for vega 64. Now that I see that vega 64 doesn't really outperform the 1080 I'm really thinking about buying the card but the only thing stopping me is Volta. Should I wait? Will it be worth it? Please note that I currently don't have a pc. (not that I need it urgently but It would be nice to build it after such a long wait)

its either here for a september launch or a q1 2018 launch

if you can wait that long, wait for it.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Is this for gaming?  If so, what resolution and refresh rate do you want to game at?  4K?  the 1080 will struggle on some titles a 1080ti will be better.  1440p?  1080 is good.  1080p?  a 1070 will probably do it for you.

The Vega 64 fits in there between the 1080 and 1070 from the reviews I have seen.

I don't think I'll be playing on higher resolutions than 1080 anytime soon, but I do want 144 hz.

If you have the $$$ a 1080 will play any game that you would want to run at 144hz (CSGO, Overwatch etc.) at max or very near max settings.  A 1070 will do the same but at lower settings.
