Headset mic not working

Hello,

As the title indicates I am not able to talk to others using the microphone on my headset in any game. I am using an ASUS ROG Cerberus Headset (more specifically, the one they include in some ROG laptops). It comes with an adapter for mic and headset connectors. I've tried both on the front panel and directly on the MOBO and it doesn't work on either one. I've messed around with my drivers (Realtek HD Audio) but nothing changed. Am I missing something? I've tried it on my Xbox One and the headset works just fine there. Any help at all would be appreciated, Thanks.

Make sure that the input device is set to the headset or just reset audio settings in the game or voice chat. @cristian97ed

It is set to it. Strangely enough, it picks up when I hit it with my fingers but when I speak into it it picks nothing at all.
