Ok. If it were my system, I would watch Ebay and Craigslist for a low priced Core i7 4790K and jump on it when you find one. You won't regret the upgrade. I would also upgrade to 16GB of RAM, but wait on a GPU upgrade at least until AMD releases Vega, even if you plan to go Nvidia, since competition will probably drop the price of Nvidia cards. Like I said, I used to have a 4790K and it really was an excellent CPU. When I overclocked it to 5 GHZ, it wasn't far behind the performance of my i7 6800K, which has 2 more cores, so it's still a great CPU by today's standards. If you need anything else, feel free to ask.

How about the  i7-4790S?

It's basically a much more power efficient i7 4790 that runs cooler, but you can not overclock it and it does not perform quite as well as the 4790, but if it is significantly cheaper than the 4790K, go for it. Here is the Intel spec page for it: http://ark.intel.com/products/80808/Intel-Core-i7-4790S-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_00-GHz
