Wait for RX Vega?

InsanityWolf

Hello.I had plans for building a gaming pc and my monitor will be the AOC G2260VWQ6 which supports FreeSync.I was going to buy a gtx 1070 because I want my system to last for 5 years or so,but seeing that the RX Vega is just about the corner makes me wonder if I should wait for it or not.I am not impatient at all,but last grade of school starts in a month and I don't know if I'll have the time to enjoy my pc If I wait for Vega for 2-3 weeks. What's your opinion?

If you're buying a Freesync monitor then yes wait for it so you get the pack.

From what I have heard the packs includes the following:

  • The Radeon Black Pack will give gamers a $200 break on a Samsung 34-inch, 1440p wide-aspect-ratio FreeSync monitor; $100 off of a Ryzen 7 CPU and motherboard combo; and two games AMD says are valued at $120(dependant on region).
  • The Radeon Aqua Pack will come with the liquid-cooled Radeon RX Vega 64 for the price of $699, along with the two games, plus the discounted monitor, CPU and motherboard options.
  • The Radeon Red Pack is similar to the Aqua Pack, but will cost $499 and comes with a Radeon RX Vega 56 instead. Like the other packs, it will come with two games, plus the discounted monitor, CPU and motherboard option.

Well if the discount is only on the samsung ultrawide monitor then I'm not buying the pack. Also I will get a Ryzen 5 1400 not a Ryzen 7 and the games don't matter to me too.Now I know that you might be thinking that I'm crazy pairing a 1400 with a gtx 1070/Rx Vega 54 but for 1080p it's not that big of a bottleneck,if at all.

The Samsung has terrible FreeSync, the Nixeus EDG 27" is so far the best monitor to pair with a Vega card.
