yup, overall quality wise it's still good, much better than computers you will find in that price bracket.

-get 16gb ram

- SSD upgrade and replace the DVD drive bay with another storage drive

I'm looking for a laptop for school. I'm looking at a 15" 2012 Macbook Pro for (~$850 Aud) or a Windows laptop for around that price. What should I get?

I don't know what the windows laptop would be as I cant really find one that would be good. It would be used for some editing, graphics work, word, web browsing.

It would be an i7, 8 gb ram, 256gb and intel graphics or the gt750. Not crazy specs like the new ones but I've heard great things about. It would be a brand new windows laptop or a used macbook pro.
