Hi guys and girls,

I am thinking of possibly upgrading the main parts of my current set up in the near future (probably in September / October) and have come up with four different options that I personally like the look of but I am unsure if they are worth it and if the upgrade is worth it which one would be the "best" of the four.

Here are the links to my current build as well as the upgrade options I am considering:

Current Build:

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/fully1208/saved/#view=CyR2FT

Upgrades:

Option 1https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/fully1208/saved/#view=mQZpgs

Option 2https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/fully1208/saved/#view=T4hnQ7

Option 3https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/fully1208/saved/#view=pbfYJx

Option 4https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/fully1208/saved/#view=Z8wGXL

I do realise that there isn't too much variation between the options but this is why I can't decide and would really appreciate the help and input of others to try make my choice a bit easier.

Also if you have a different config all together that you think I should consider feel free to let me know! :)

I should also mention that I am based in the UK and will be using this system mainly for gaming on an ultrawide monitor as well as your standard day to day social media use, uni work etc.

Personal Build

i5-4460 | BeQuiet! Dark Rock 3 | MSI Z97 – Gaming 3 | Kingston HyperX Fury Red 16GB | Sapphire R9 390 Nitro | SanDisk Z400s 256 GB | WD Blue 1TB | Corsair RMx 650W | NXZT S340

I'd go with option 4 and change the 1600X to a 1600, there's no real mass benefit to getting the X apart from a higher clock speed out of the box, which you can easily match with a regular 1600. If you are comfortable with overclocking get the 1600 on an x370 board and if your not too worried about overclocking then get a 1600X on a B350 board and save yourself some money

neither

you are going to waste your money for little to no improvement - not talking about the video card, you could add a GTX1070 to your existing setup

for gaming, get an i7

see I wasn't sure if my current CPU would bottleneck a 1070 so that's why I went for a CPU upgrade at the same time but if you think that I could get away with it then I will probably just upgrade my GPU and be happy with the money savings :)

Thanks for the input if I go ahead with going down the AMD CPU upgrade then I think I would just got for the 1600 over the 1600X.
