Please read through all of this to understand what I have tried already.

I'm fixing a laptop for a coworker that crashes before startup with the error "Unmountable Boot Volume". So I follow this guide to try and solve the problem.

I downloaded and set up a windows bootable usb and plugged it in and changed the boot settings. When I boot to the usb, the computer goes through the bios screen, and then goes black. I let it sit for an hour or more and still nothing happened. The HDD does show up on the bios.

In the process of careless troubleshooting, I hooked the HDD up to my desktop to try and see if I could access any files. After moving it to last in the boot order on my computer, I restarted. My desktop went through the bios splash screen, and then refused to boot, and did the exact same thing the laptop was doing. After unplugging the laptop HDD my computer went back to being normal.

I guess I'm not sure what to try at this point, any suggestions would be great. Sorry about the novel above.
