Threadripper build

Hello friends, 

 

I am beginning the process of building my first pro-sumer build. I had been waiting for the Threadripper announcements. Now that that's out I was wondering if someone could help enlighten me on quad channel vs dual channel memory. I know this is probably a dumb question but I've never worked with quad channel memory and want to make sure I don't end up buying the wrong product. I also wanted to know if I can run a dual channel kit in a quad channel motherboard. Thank you for any advice in advance.
